The work on Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority’s Logistics Parks at Mangalpally and Batasingaram have picked up pace and efforts are being made to complete the works by December 2018 and March 2019 respectively.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao had laid foundation for these parks in October last year. Since then, works are going on at a sluggish pace due to delays such as handing over the lands.
While the Batasingaram Logistic Park is coming up on a 40 acre site abutting NH-65, the one at Mangalpally is planned in 22 acres on Sagar Road. Both the parks will have huge parking space for truck parking besides a host of facilities. The objective is to ensure that heavy trucks do not enter the city and impact regular traffic.
The State government is planning to construct 12 such logistics parks around the city and in the first phase, works for these two parks has been taken up.
The goods carried by heavy trucks can be stored at the warehouse in these parks which will also have cold storage facilities. The stored goods could then be transported to different parts of the city through autos and mini trucks.
Besides highway connectivity, efforts will be made to ensure airport and rail connectivity for these parks to facilitate easy transportation of goods, said HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu.
He said once the development of 35 radial roads and 65 spike radial roads is completed, the connectivity between Outer Ring Road and Inner Ring Road will be strengthened, he added.
